G’Day Sydney!

So have no idea what time anything is now as N.Z. had daylight savings, and although it’s April, it’s their autumn, so I have no idea if time went forward, or back, then we flew out at some ridiculous hour over to Sydney, Australia and crossed some time zones as we did it. Totally lost!

Anyhoo, arrived in at 9.30 local time and found Lee & Jane both waiting for us to greet us here in lovely Oz!

The sun was shining and they’ve both got tonnes of stuff for us planned to do! So after ditching our bags at their house (which is lovely!), we went for a walk down Oxford St. (interesting!) and into Hyde Park where there are loads of Ibis strutting around (Lee calls them ‘trash turkeys’ as they like to rummage in the bins apparently!) and did a bit of possum spotting, as they camp out in the crooks of trees during the day! One was low down, so couldn’t resist whilst it was sleeping, and poked it :)

P1010488 Once done here we went on to the Botanical Gardens, and these were great too, they have flying foxes massed in the trees, bickering loudly at one another!

P1010508From a distance they just look like big seed pods, then they stretch…

P1010507They are huge! But very graceful in flight!

From here we went to have a look at the famous opera house and bridge…

P1010555Then Lee took us on a jet boat ride around the harbour. No gentle sightseeing trip this, oh no! We screamed out of the harbour, and then did some huge dead stop turns which sent a bow wave of water washing right over us! Great fun! We were giggling like girls all three of us (Jane took the sensible option and stayed ashore) and when we got off and took our lovely purple waterproof ponchos off, we were drenched underneath…

P1010573Next stop was the fish market, a huge place selling every type of fish and sea dwelling monster you can think of, so being in Oz we simply had to buy some whopping prawns for tonight's dinner, as well as a nice fresh fish and a lovely (though looking quite angry) crab.

Off home to cook it all up now, will let you know how it went!
