Wombats! Koalas! Duck billed non existipuss!

Last nights meal was yum! Lee cooked up a lip smacking chilli crab which went splendidly well with both the crab and the ‘prawn’ (small lobster!), whilst Suz and Jane enjoyed their red snapper :)

Today’s program consisted of Lee making a packed lunch and then setting off for Taronga Zoo over the other side of the harbour, so we got to go on the ferry across!

& gave us more great views of the opera house and the bridge too…

Once in, we wisely got in the cable car to go to the top of the park and then worked our way down, which gave us the opportunity to go see the koalas first off whilst they were still up and active…

See it move? So quick that you could miss it. To prove that it did actually move, here is the same koala 5 hours later…

P1010587 The zoo was really nice, and there were loads of animals in there that I’ve not seen before, simply because the zoo here is in the nice temperatures that Sydney can provide, and those that were here were quite happy to be out sun bathing, as it wasn’t bitterly code like in Blightly, for example, the snow leopard…

and the meerkat that had dug himself a sun lounger!

P1010642 Brilliant! So having walked around most of the zoo, we visited the Australian section, and saw an Echinda [check], a Wombat [check] and Emu [check] but of the Duck billed platypuss we saw no sign. We have therefore concluded that they are actually a myth!

Tonight we are off for a degustation meal, apparently it’s like a million courses, but each course is but a mere morsel, so you get a chance to sample all sorts of stuff that you probably wouldn’t otherwise, sounds good!
